February Sewing Projects: Valentine's Day Inspired

With February just a few days away I thought I'd share some of my favorite Valentines Day Sewing projects to inspire you along they way. February can be a gloomy month of weather, so I like to add some pops of color (of course pink and red) to my sewing projects. Make these fun sewing projects for yourself, friends, and anyone in between. Get the details below on how to sew each project including the tutorial.

Let's get organized or just creative will do. I love sewing these fabric baskets. They can be made in all sizes and fabrics and are useful for anything from kids socks, fabric remnants, toys, a gift basket, and even as a bag. You can add handles or no handles. It's all up to you. Sewing With Winter Fabrics

Fleece "Coatigan"

Winter is here and what better time to sew with cozy warm fabrics. My personal favorites are cuddle, sherpa, and fleece. You can find an array of prints and fabrics. These make great materials for sewing winter garments like coats, sweatshirts, robes, and accessories. Below I listed my favorite projects you can stitch up this winter using these fabrics.

DIY Quilted Laptop Case/ Pouch

Lately I've been taking classes at a University. I was always dinging up my laptop in my bag or backpack and I thought I really need a pouch/case. So in "Trash to Couture" fashion I pulled out my sewing machine and made myself one. It's a pretty simple project and requires a couple supplies I had on hand. I will say this gets a lot of compliments so may be a good gift idea as well. The padding keeps it protected and I love a pretty print. Get the details below on how to sew your own laptop pouch/case.

Sewing Winter Garments

Stylish Fabric is my go-to for sewing apparel fabrics. They have all the options, prints, and colors at affordable prices.  I've been sewing a lot of garments with their merino-like wool and  waffle knit. These fabrics come in an array of different colors and prints and great for sewing winter garments. Some of my recent makes above: ruched center front sweater in the camo brushed waffle knit, a cashmere like turtle-neck sweater in this chambray blue, beanie hats for me and the boys in a mix of the different fabrics above, an off-the-shoulder sweater, and a long cardigan with pockets (copper merino-like wool).

How to Machine Embroider a Sweatshirt

With the holidays right around the corner I wanted to share how to embroider sweatshirts. These can be great as gifts, family themed photos, and just lounging around and staying warm.  I love Threadsy for my blank basic needs. They have great options to pick from in sweatshirts, hoodies, t-shirts, hats, and more all at wholesale prices. Another great feature is no minimum orders so I can order as little as one or more if need be. Threadsy offers top brands with trendy fits like Bella + Canvas. This particular one is one of my favorite sweatshirts to embroider. Not only is the style and fit just right it has a nice medium weight to it which makes it perfect for embroidery. Get the details below on how to embroider your own sweatshirt.
