DIY. Crochet Trim Seam

I came up with this idea to make tight shirts wearable again. I had so many cool t-shirts yet most of them were purchased when it was trendy to have them nice and snug. I love how this turned out and did with with fringe here as well.

Supplies:

• Brother Sewing Machine XR3774 
• 2-3 yards of 4-6" width crochet or lace trim
• t-shirt or sleeveless top

DIY Tutorial:

 Cut the side seams and if there is sleeves cut them off as well.

 Place the trim right sides together starting at the bottom hem and going up to the shoulder seam and all the way back down to the back bottom hem (mine was 4" in width and about 2 yards). Don't cut the trim yet as the shirt stretches as you sew and it may be too short by the end.  Then starting at the front bottom hem, sew right sides together using a slight zig zag stitch (1.5).

Here is how the armhole looks.

Once sewn it should look like this... Measure and mark how long you want your armhole opening. Mine was about 13 ". Now there are 2 ways to do this. You can top stitch the trim right along the edge. I do this if the trim has a pretty edge.

OR...

Flip the shirt inside out and sew right sides together along the outside of the trim.  Repeat this for the other side.
