The Sewing Essentials: Guide to Basic Notions

I've been sewing and designing since I was 12 so that's a good 20 years of experience I have with notions and supplies. It can be overwhelming with all the products and information out there. That's why I compiled everything you need in this quick video. It's not as much or as complex as you might think. Fabric.com makes this easy with their starter sewing kit by Ever Sewn. I also include a couple of my other favorite sewing products with brands I trust and use like Sulky for threads, stabilizers, and transfer pens. The best for embroidery, appliqué, needlework and more. Another favorite is Mannequin Mall professional dress forms for all your designing and tailoring needs.

  1. I deliberately try and keep my sewing supplies simple (although the longer you make the more that naturally accumulates). When I learned pattern drafting years ago, we were not allowed use french or any curved ruler and were told that we should only use them when we could do a proper free-hand curve.... of course by that stage curved rulers are redundant. I still dont use one! (although my free hand curves are rarely done in one quick line)

  7. I have been planning to learn sewing for quite some time but never really found the motivation. Well, I will check out your content once I am done calculating my GPA. I have Amcas Gpa Calculator open in the next tab, so it won’t take long. I will see if your content delivers quality.
