DIY Cutout Striped shirt

Supplies: striped shirt, ribbon, or elastic

I love basics with a twist like this cut out striped top. This was basic sweater that was way too tight to wear so I added the strips to add some extra width and of course a little design element.

I removed the tag with my seam ripper and made the back the front. It became a nice boatneck collar and with the 3/4 sleeves and stripes it had that French look. The party is all in the back though with the open cutouts. I can still wear this with a bra because it perfectly aligns with the middle strip.

Get the details below on how to make your own:

I cut the back in half. Because I'm using a cardigan the front will be used.

Press over the sides the amount of length you want the back to show.

Even strips of elastic, fabric, or ribbon. Getting the fit right will be important so fabric with stretch or elastic will work best.

Top stitch the pinned straps into place.

Cool effect and super easy.
