DIY Corset Tee Refashion

I'm a t-shirt and jeans gal so I love a spin on your basic t-shirt. This cute corset tee was simple to create by adding Dritz Hook & Eyes with rhinestone to a boxy t-shirt. It's similar to what I did with this lace-up corset top but with the Hook & Eyes. I love the little rhinestone feature detail too. Get the details below and sass up your own shirt.

DIY Instructions:

You can do sew these directly on the t-shirt but if it's a thin shirt it could tear the knit. My t-shirt was pretty soft so I  chose to add strip of trim to add the Hook & Eyes on. The trim I used is an old t-shirt hem I had in my stash. I save these all the time for binding and other projects like this. The strips measured 6.5" each and I finished the top and bottom edges as well.

Evenly space out and mark with a fabric marking pen the location you want the Hook & Eyes to be. Mine were about 3/4" apart.

Hand sew them on. I sewed around the loops a few times to make sure it was secure enough but didn't do the entire loop like you typically would.

Continue to sew them all on...

Take each strip and place it on the shirt so right sides are together. You will want to pin and find the proper placement for you t-shirt and measurement before sewing. I started mine about 1/4 measurement from the side seams and just above the hem. My shirt was really long so I did cut the bottom off a couple inches and sewed a new hem.

Once you've got the placement right, sew right sides together with a slight zigzag stitch.
