DIY Supply Roll Up Pouch

Not sure what do with all those fabric remnants or quilt block samples? Try this clever little Roll Up Pouch that can be used for many different things. Store sewing and knitting notions, art supplies, and even makeup brushes.  I made this one to keep my sewing supplies organized but also handy to take on-the-go. This is also a cute gift to sew up for just about any crafter in your life. Get the details below and make your own.

Supplies:
The quilt block I'm using is the Flying Geese block from the Carolina Sunset Block of the month on the Make Something blog

Cutting:
  • Main: (outside and also will fold up the interior for the pocket) 12" x 12"
  • Interior: 12" x 12"
  • Fusible fleece: (Press to main): 12" x 12"
  • 1/2" double fold bias tape: 1.5 yards
  • 2 x 1/4" double fold bias tape (for straps): 30" (2 x 15" straps)

Press the fusible fleece onto the Main Piece.
Place front and back pieces together (wrong sides facing) and top stitch the edges.

Use the 1" Bias Tape Maker to create 1/2" double fold bias tape to finish the edges of the pocket and the exterior.

Use the 1/2" Bias Tape Maker to make the straps. I folded this in half to create 1/4" double fold bias tape and top stitch the edges together (you can also use the 1/2" as well) or any type of strapping.

Pin the 1" bias tape to the top edge to finish the edge of the pocket. Stitch along the edge so right sides are facing. Flip over, press, and top stitch into place. You can also sew bias tape sandwiched over edge.

Flip the bottom edge up (side with bias tape) 4.5" and press. Clip into place and stitch into place to create the front pocket.

To create the individual pockets use a grid ruler and fabric marking tool for the lines. I did mine 1.5" to 2" apart and the last ones 2.5". You can adjust these to any size you want.

Topstitch along the lines starting from the bottom and going all the way up to the top. You can stop at the edge of the pocket but the Main exterior will show where the stitches stop so I continued up.

It should look something like this. Now just finished the edges with bias tape and add the straps tucked in on the center side. You can sandwich the bias tape around the edges and sew or attach right sides together and flip over and top stitch.

Don't forget to set the straps into one side (center). They should be placed parallel together. Finish off bias tape and you are good do go.
