DIY ruched maxi skirt.

Supplies: Organic Cotton Plus fabric from here
Dye: follow instructions here

Sneak peek of one of the designs I will be selling soon. Nothing says summer apparel like a tie dyed maxi skirt, perfect for a swim cover up and comfortable as can be. It may still be cold but warm weather is on the way, check out the simplified version in the tute below.

DIY Instructions:

Measure a pair of pants that fit your length from waist to the floor and add 5 inches to that. For the width you will want to get a skirt that fits or use your measurements.

Sew right sides together. Leave a slit on one or both sides as far up as you'd like to go.

Gather the side seams on the waist...finish edges accordingly.

  1. Love it, how do you gather the side seams though, I've never done this?

    1. Gather it like I show at the bottom. Basically scrunch the fabric and sew. I show how to do this on the dolman video too

  2. Love how this turned out. Maxi skirts are so much better with huge side splits.

  8. Do you just gather the extra 5 inches that you added to the overall length for the ruching or what? How much do you gather to make the ruching? LOVE this! Can't wait to make a few for summer!! Thanks for the inspiration! I think I'll round off my corners though, at the bottom of the split by the hem for a softer look.
