DIY Leopard printed shorts sewn from table runner

Supplies: table runner.
favorite pair of shorts for pattern.

I love a pair of bold short, add a basic blouse to stand out. I wanted a pair of tailored ones and these turned out great.

Before it was a table runner. I have 2 sets and I never used this one. I love the fabric...and always wanted some tailored leopard print shorts.

This is the same pattern I used for the vintage printed shorts here. I just drafted a pattern from an easy pair of shorts and copied where to sew. I also made a band and added a zipper on the side seam instead of the front.

  1. These are awesome! Great work. I've done projects using sheets before, but the sturdiness of a runner is a great idea for shorts! Plus the print is super bold, which is always great. :)

  2. Yes! I love that you took it from a table runner. I was wondering if you prefer these with the band and the zipper rather than the vintage fold over pattern. Does one fit better or have more durability?

  7. I love these shorts :) How did you create the fold on the bottom? I can see in the 1st and 2nd picture that there's a fold of some sort. Would you mind sharing?
